Salesforce.com, Honeywell, and Amgen Join Dow Jones Industrial Average

Salesforce.com (CRM), Honeywell (HON), and Amgen (AMGN) joined the Dow Jones Industrial Average, effective with the opening of trading on Monday, August 31, 2020. The stocks replaced Raytheon Technologies (RTX), Exxon Mobil (XOM), and Pfizer (PFE).

Do changes to the Dow affect the Dow Underdog strategies? The historical results of my "worst-to-first" strategies were based on holding a basket of Underdog stocks for 12 months, regardless if a stock was removed from the Dow during the holding period. Thus, to be consistent with my strategy, investors who purchase a basket of the Dow Underdogs should keep that basket intact for the full 12-month holding period even if the stocks are removed from the Dow.
